This exciting new opportunity is a career defining role for a talented Technical Specialist with business development experience who would like to be part of a quality company which is growing. Ideally this will suit someone from the Hydrological, Meteorological or Geotechnical instrumentation sector. This person will play a key role in establishing the new Melbourne office for this highly respected company, a leader in the design, manufacture, and sales of critical environmental monitoring instruments.

With its main office for Australia & Oceania based in Townsville, Campbell Scientific Australia (CSA) is part of the global U.S. based company. Campbell Scientific, Inc. provides reliable environmental monitoring instruments across a range of sectors including agriculture, research, meteorology, hydrology, industrial, and mining. These instruments utilise data loggers and sensors to provide critical data in harsh, remote environments, including flood warning systems and remote meteorological stations.

As part of its growth strategy the company has decided to establish a new office in Melbourne to service its existing clients and new clients. As part of this, CSA would like to appoint a Technical and Business Development Lead with Hydrological, Meteorological or Geotechnical instrumentation experience to establish and maintain strong relationships with these clients.


This position reports to the Australian Sales and Market Manager who is a well-respected manager with considerable knowledge and experience in the sector.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Oversight of CSA’s activities in the Melbourne region
  • Maintaining regular contact with existing and potential clients to build strong relationships to maintain current business and identify further business
  • Monitoring the market in the Melbourne region providing regular feedback to the Sales and Market Manager on the market to assist with market strategies.
  • Working with existing and new clients to identify and specify their requirements to provide solutions and quotations providing technical input into the instrument selection.
  • Working closely with CSA staff for the planning and implementation of these solutions.
  • Providing first line Technical pre- and post-sales support for clients, triaging these enquiries to other CSA staff as required.
  • Co-ordinating the establishment of the new Melbourne office.


To be successful in this role, you will require experience working in the Hydrological Meteorological or Geotechnical instrumentation sector and have ideally worked with environmental instrumentation client/s in the Melbourne region.

  • Evidence of organisational skills, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid experience in the Environmental Industry highly regarded with a problem-solving and proactive “can do” attitude.
  • Enjoyment out of a client-facing role with a moderate level of travel required.


A competitive remuneration package will be negotiated with the preferred candidate. The will include a bonus. Relocation assistance is offered, including temporary accommodation for someone who wishes to return to Melbourne.
