Sentinel employs the latest technology across diverse projects including satellite telemetry, ALERT2 telemetry, RTK survey systems, Acoustic Doppler current meters, remote control bathymetric surveys, and RQ30 radar systems. Sentinel hydrographers work alongside our IT professionals to enhance DataSight, our proprietary environmental data management system, which is sold in 25 countries to government, mining and consultancies. What we’re looking for?
We are currently seeking an Experienced Hydrographer to undertake hydrographic monitoring projects both here and overseas. The position will suit a self-motivated individual who enjoys a busy and positive work environment and wishes to become an integral part of the Sentinel team based in the Canberra region. We preferably seek an individual with at least five year’s hydrographic experience, however the successful applicant will receive both in-house and external training, and experience in a related discipline will be considered.
Ultimately, your attitude and commitment to providing a quality service to Sentinel clients within our supportive team environment will be as critical as your technical capability in this position. As a hydrographer you will have strong mathematical aptitude, excellent communication skills and an interest in water resource management, specifically monitoring and base line data capture. At Sentinel, you will enjoy working in a range of differing environmental conditions and display superior levels of maturity in your interactions and decision making. Practical ability, including experience with hand tools or machinery, is required in this role.
Sentinel enjoys a flexible working environment and although travel is required, Sentinel promotes a work life balance. International trips are typically two weeks in duration and are conducted as a team to reduce time away and manage work pressure.
