About Sentinel Pty Ltd
Sentinel is a small Queanbeyan-based consultancy that has been providing remote monitoring solutions in Africa, Asia, the Pacific and Australia, for over 18 years. We now have a vacancy for a Hydrographer to undertake hydrographic monitoring projects both here and overseas.
Sentinel employs the latest technology across diverse projects within Australia and internationally, including satellite telemetry, ALERT2 telemetry, RTK survey systems, Acoustic Doppler current meters, remote control bathymetric surveys, and RQ30 radar systems. Our hydrographers work alongside our IT professionals to enhance DataSight, our proprietary environmental data management system, which is sold in 25 countries to government, mining and consultancies.
What we’re looking for?
We are seeking a self-motivated individual that enjoys a busy and positive work environment who wishes to become an integral part of the Sentinel team. A hydrographic role at Sentinel will suit a person with strong mathematical aptitude, excellent communication skills and who has an interest in water resource management, specifically monitoring and base line data capture. The successful applicant will enjoy working in a range of differing environmental conditions and display superior levels of maturity in their interactions and decision making. Practical ability, including experience with hand tools or machinery, will be highly advantageous in this role. While hydrographic experience is deemed important, the successful applicant will receive both in-house and external training, and the position will suit an individual with a desire to extend themselves within the Sentinel team.
Sentinel enjoys a flexible working environment and although travel is required, Sentinel promotes a work life balance. International trips are typically two weeks in duration and are conducted as a team to reduce time away and manage work pressure.
