The paper examines current coal seam gas activities in NSW; where it is, what it is, what are some of the major public concerns and what the NSW government and the NSW Office of Water are doing to minimise and monitor possible impacts. The involvement of Hydrographers and the hydrographic profession in these activities is also examined
